Vegan Cheeseburger & Recipe

The dog days of summer in New York City bring a whole new set of cravings. As people begin yearning for those childhood summer classics, they often find themselves presented with two uncomfortable options: either sacrificing flavor or their cruelty-free ideals. Luckily, with tasty additions like the Vegan Cheeseburger at Willow NYC, this choice is one of the past!

Willow, conveniently located in the hip Chelsea neighborhood, specializes in bringing a unique, vegan take to old bistro classics. Whether you’re craving a burger for lunch or dinner, you’ll find no tastier option than that found on the inclusive vegan menu at Willow! To learn more about how Willow adds their new spin to old favorites, explore our menu options or place a pickup or delivery order today.

Willow’s Own Double Stack Burger

There’s an old saying that often proves true when creating a vegan take on a childhood favorite: “If it isn’t broke, don’t fix it.”

While Willow has made a name for itself in introducing worldwide flavors on a bite-sized scale, we keep things simple with this delicious classic. Our double stack burger starts with a slightly sweet, vegan brioche bun. From here, we use farm-fresh vegetables to add crispness to each classic bite: pickles, sliced tomato, and green lettuce.

From here, we take this classic and tweak the ingredients to keep it cruelty-free.

Rather than relying on meat, we use two thick, perfectly cooked Impossible burgers to create our burger. A slice of vegan “American cheese” adds a salty, creamy contrast to the savory flavor of the patties. A dash of ketchup and a swipe of vegan mayo finish this burger off and cement it as one to remember!

Just because we appreciate an original doesn’t mean we are afraid to add a bit of pizazz. If you’re craving a new twist on this classic summer fare, try our hickory smoked burger. Piled high with peppery arugula, “feta,” and red wine cippolini onions, this burger packs as much “wow” factor as it does filling wholesomeness.

Make Your Own Take

Once upon a time, making a vegan cheeseburger from scratch was a complicated, messy endeavor. Before starting, you had to invest in dozens of ingredients, and even then, there was no guarantee as to the flavor of the outcome.

Luckily, with the addition of delicious new cruelty-free meat substitutes on today’s market, those days are long gone! Now, making your own take on Willow’s vegan cheeseburger at home can be a breeze.

Ingredients

Vegan bun
Impossible burger patties
Lettuce
Tomato

Pickles
Vegan cheese
Any desired condiments
1 garlic clove (optional)

Instructions

  1. To start, preheat a nonstick pan to medium-high heat. This is vital in creating that attractive sear and locking in the juices of each Impossible patty.
  2. Add your patties to the pan and cook for roughly 3 minutes on each side. Though these vegan burger patties are completely free of meat, it is still important to make sure that the burger is fully cooked to 165 degrees Fahrenheit. The proteins used to make these patties are only truly safe and palatable once fully cooked.
  3. While your patties cook, consider toasting your buns. For an added pop of flavor and heat, run an optional clove of raw garlic over the toasted surface.
  4. Once your Impossible patties are thoroughly cooked, remove them from heat, assemble your vegan cheeseburger, and enjoy!

Classic Favorites at Willow Bistro

If you find yourself craving more summertime classics, look no further than the inclusive menu at Willow NYC. Vegan cheeseburgers are just the tip of the iceberg!

Dig into a plate of freshly cooked, vegan ribs. Made using roasted seitan and slathered in housemade barbeque glaze, the first bite of these delicious ribs will mentally transport you back to your first summertime barbeque. A side of hand-cut fries and garlic broccolini turn this into a full meal you won’t soon forget.

Looking for a way to beat the heat? Feed your sweet tooth with a slice of our vanilla bean cashew cheesecake. With its cookie dough crust and a layer of hot dark fudge, this dessert will spark all your favorite childhood memories with every spoonful. To turn this dessert into a true treat, add a side of our vegan ice cream, available in either chocolate or vanilla!
